Glenn Gaesser
About the Author: Glenn Gaesser, Ph.D.
Glenn
Gaesser, Ph.D., is an associate professor of exercise physiology and
associate director of the adult fitness program, at the
University of Virginia. Dr. Gaesser
is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), is a member
of its Board of Trustees, and is an associate editor of ACSM's journal
Medicine and Science in Sports and
Exercise.
He was graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of
California, Berkeley in 1972, where he stayed on to complete both his M.A.
(1975) and Ph.D. (1978) with a specialization in exercise physiology.
Big Fat Lies: The Truth About Your Weight and Your Health
(Fawcett Columbine), his first book, was published in 1996 and has
received considerable media attention. Dr. Gaesser has appeared on Good
Morning America, ABC’s 20/20, World News Tonight, NBC Nightly News, CNN,
Home and Family, and Leeza. He has been a guest on dozens of radio shows
in North America, and has been interviewed for numerous newspapers and
national magazines, including a Newsweek cover story (April 21, 1997).
